St. Monica Jr. College of Education, Ahmednagar is situated on the north side of the city in a very beautiful & peaceful surrounding. This college is named after Augustine who was a very naughty & troublesome child was completely changed & later on converted into a "Sant" in fourth century by his pious mother "Monica".
Normal School' has been founded by Ms.Winifred the honorable missionary lady, in 1900 upto 1910. This school made a progress & converted into a training college which was recognized by Government. Miss Hen was the First Principal of this esteem college. From 1915 to 1928 Miss. Jenliki lathum was working as a Principal. On 1918 she was conferred the title 'Kaisar-E-Hind' by Government of India for her humanitarian service to the wounded soldiers in Banglore.
The college building was constructed under her guidance.
In 1928 after Miss Lathum, Miss Keniyan there was a three-year Jr. Teachers training course. Inspite of the protest of Government Miss. Keniyan started Senior teachers training course with only four lady candidates. From 1929 to 1934 Ms.Martidel became the Principal.
She was known for her very beautiful marathi handwriting, though she was a foreigner. 1934 to 1940 Miss. Metti was working in this college as a principal. Though she was a short in height, she was the tallest in performing her duties.
From 1940 to 1954 Ms. kathrin-e-stidus was the principal of this college. She had a good command on marathi language. She was expert in marathi grammer & beautiful handwriting. She was know as a very strict & discipline lady.
From 1954 to 1958 Ms. K. B. Sare was the principal.
Ms. Indirabai Tribhuvan from Nagpur, the first Indian Principal took over from Ms. Sare in the year 1959 & continued up to 1970. She had a very grand personality. During her period in 1968 the D.Ed. Traning course has been started only for S.S.C. passed ladies.
Ms. Tribhuvan was followed by Ms.Sulochana Damodar Pol, in the year 1971 & continued up to 1978. She was very popular among the student. In 1978 Rt. Rev. D. J. Vairagar was appointed as a Principal for One Year. He was humorous by nature. Besides this devotion to spiritual service,he work in this Institutions with a full devotions.
1979 to 1990, these twelve years, this college was run efficiently by the Principal Ms. R. T. Gaikwad In that period many projects were undertaken here.
From the year 1990 to March 2003 Smt. Bhalerao R.R. was the principal. She was known as a very enthusiastic & quiet natured. In that same epoch from the year 1990, according to the order of high court, Government accepted 50 percent Minority Quota. This helped poor Christion ladies to entered into D.Ed. Course.
From the Year 1993 there was a revision of syllabus which required H.S.C. passing for admission. from 01st June 2003.
From June 2003 to August 2022 Smt. Bhingardive S.S. was the principal. She has a very much talented & efficient in her work. She is giving more attention towards many Co-Curricular activities & different competitions.
Smt. Pawar Manisha Lajaras has taken charge from 1st September 2022. Smt. Manisha Pawar, Principal is prompt in her work. She is very talented & hard worker. In 2013 She has join as a Shikshan Sevak in this college & confirmed in 2016. By the grace of God she got this Principal post only nine year service in this college.
The student of this college stood first in Maharashtra in Hindi Exam in the year 2004 & 2005.
All the teaching staff is trained & qualified & has mastery on their subjects. The non-teaching staff is working excellently. The college is processing & known one of the excellent colleges of Maharashtra.
After a century, the college building is still sound & safe. Students are provided with well maintained. Play ground,library & well equipped laboratory. In the building of the college there are facilities like adequate no.of specious classroom,one prayer hall for offering devotions every morning. There is a separate building for the office. There is garden in front of office which makes everyone enthusiastic & pleasant. Out station girls are provided hostel & mess. Behind the main college building,students of std. Ist to X are provided with a separate hostel.
1. Play ground:- There is a big play ground for Kho Kho,Vollyball & Cricket.
2. Hostel :- There is a facility of ladies hostel for outstation girls. Intake is 100 Students.
3. Dining Hall & Mess:- There is a dining hall & Mess available.
